Dr. Marta Giraudi, at the last year of her Advanced Education in Periodontology, addressed a surgery in which she could put in practice two surgical techniques at the same time: osseous resective surgery for crown lenghtening and a mucogingival surgery for root coverage. The crown lenghtening was necessary to isolate the cavity and complete the restoration of the tooth.
Dr. Giraudi, what was so special about this surgery?
The central aspect of the surgery was the use of the secondary thinned palatal flap as connective tissue graft under a lateral sliding flap, to cover the recession.
What have you made from this experience?
I developed the ability to use different surgical techniques in combination. The constant support of a tutor during surgery, transferred me safe during my learning process.
